Position Summary

The Process, Data & Technology Lead / Solution Architect (Finance) role is to guide and support the design, delivery and operation of an integrated Finance, Tax and Treasury portfolio across the Group. The role brings expertise in the Finance business domain including planning, forecasting, cash management, tax, financial reporting with technologies like SAP ERP, SAP BPC/BW, Sungard Quantum, to the Global IT Project & Programme Delivery Team.
The position reports to the PDT Manager / Solution Architecture Manager – Enterprise, is a peer to the relevant business process owners and represents the IT point of view in the Design Authority Group (where global functional and architectural design issues are discussed and decisions made and approved).

Key Accountabilities

The position is accountable for ensuring that architectures, designs and service definitions within the domain meet the requirements of business sponsors whilst ensuring that said solutions benefit from and comply with Global IT architecture artefacts, policies and standards. Key accountabilities for this position shall include:
  • Representing IT, interfacing with business sponsors and business support groups
  • Ensuring that functional and non-function requirements and captured effectively
  • Ensuring that proposed solutions fully address requirements and align to Global IT policies and standards
  • Ensuring that solutions are designed and fully documented for supportability and sustainability and that they transitioned into support effectively
  • Ensuring that architectures and designs follow internal and external (industry) best practice
  • Ensuring that solutions are selected to integrate well both internally and externally, to contribute to a globally optimized application portfolio
  • Assuring that deployed solutions comply with approved designs
  • Providing expert assistance and guidance in the resolution of issues (covering all aspects of a solution from business process, through to design and solution / technology)
  • Participating in project governance, readiness reviews, stakeholder updates and quality gates as required
  • Serving as advisor to the domain, working with peers to maintain technology direction and communicating the impact of solution design options 
  • Serving as the IT authority for the domain, providing authoritative direction, assurance and approval of solutions and recommendations service design 
  • Ensuring technology roadmap alignment and optimisation, driving cost-effectiveness and seeking efficiencies through technology rationalisation and simplification
  • Staying abreast of technology product developments affecting the domain, to support innovation and modernisation across the domain

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute

Experience required:
Candidates should have the following experience:
  • History as a strong business analyst and / or architecting IT solutions and / or IT technical design
  • Expert level of experience in ensuring business analysis services are successfully delivered in a corporate setting ideally covering all aspects of project lifecycle from concept to execution and operation
  • Experience in the definition and delivery of the Finance solutions in the Oil and Gas industry
  • Experience delivering technology and solutions into an operational environment and supporting technology solutions
  • Strong experience of an ERP System with a strong preference for SAP experience; experience of related technologies such as SAP BPC/BW, Sungard Quantum and SAP Business Objects is desired.
Knowledge required:
Candidates should be educated to degree, or equivalent, level in a relevant subject and possess:
  • Strong understanding of key process and technologies relevant to the finance domain and other architecture domains as required, both in depth across the breadth of their domain and the skills to evaluate new technology
  • General understanding of business processes in upstream and midstream Oil and Gas environment
  • Understanding of industry best practice for solutions within the domain
  • Professional knowledge in Solution Architecture, supported by professional accreditation (ideally TOGAF) is preferred
