Position Summary

BG Brazil based Principal Completions Engineer to provide well completion, stimulation, testing and well integrity engineering design & operational support and Technical Assurance to the Non Operated BG/Petrobras JV activities. Liaise with in-country well engineering operations teams and work in close collaboration with the JV.

Provide technical expertise & lead engineering planning & design work on Operated Exploration DST activities.

Key Accountabilities

- Provide technical support, perform technical reviews, and focus on Assurance and process safety within Completion operations in the JV;
- Support, challenge and provide direction to all completion engineering related activities within the JV asset team;
- Work with the JV to challenge, influence and optimise the Conceptual Completion Designs for new wells projects;
- Work and collaborate with BG internal Stakeholders;
- Lead the Planning, Design and delivery of DST operations safely and effectively for Operated portfolio;
- Initiate, manage and perform Functional Reviews and Readiness Reviews as per the BG Value Assurance Framework Process;
- Monitor & report on progress & performance;
- Ensure well completion and test designs and programmes meet BG standards, in particular with respect to well integrity, operational effectiveness and environmental policies;
- Look to introduce new technologies, methods and solutions to actively pursue continuous improvement both within the JV and BG operated activities.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute


Experience Needed:
  
• University degree required. Master degree (or equivalent) strongly preferred;
• Genuine HSSE commitment and behaviours.
• Minimum 15 plus years of industry experience, with operator experience preferred but not essential;
• Completion and Well Testing design & operations experience in Deepwater;
• Exploration DST experience in Deepwater;
• Able to run Wellcat in Multi tube mode;
• Familiar with QRA in well operations (production);
• Able to carry out a FTA (fault tree analysis);
• Able to carry out a FMECA (Failure Mode and Consequence Analysis);
• Experience in detailed completion & testing designs and reviews from a Statement of Requirements
• Stimulation techniques & practices;
• Intervention techniques and practices;
• Fluid selection during well completion & interventions;
• Scale/asphaltene removal;
• Exposed to Field development planning and the role of Completion/well interventions throughout field life.
 

Qualifications and skills:
 
• Exemplary personal HSSE leadership behaviours;
• Extensive knowledge and experience across completion, stimulation, testing and intervention scope;
• Advanced knowledge of industry normal practices associated with testing, work-over, wire-line and completion operations;
• Be able to influence others within their discipline and in the broader Well Engineering field, both internally and externally;
• Energy to strive for completion top quartile wells without compromising HSSE and well objectives;
• Technical track record with experience in a wide variety of operating environments including offshore operations;
• Using specialist completions knowledge to provide technical lead on projects with area of expertise;
• Knowledge of drilling, production, geology, reservoir engineer disciplines desirable;
• Knowledge in one of the following fields, pre-salt carbonate formations, hydraulic fracturing, deepwater and intelligent completions;
• Good understanding of production applications;
• Understanding of well control techniques and tubing stress analysis;
• 
The engineering criteria associated with completion, testing and production operations;
• Familiar with API & other recognized industry standards & recommended practices;
• Understanding of Geological and Petroleum Engineering priorities and well associated requirements;
• Internationally mobile, travel as required.

Other attributes:
• Build strong relationships with key contractors and drive completion TQF performance;
• Portuguese language skills strongly preferred.
