Officer Resource Mobilisation/Partnerships

IICD Foundation is a Dutch based NGO active in the field of ICT for development. IICD is specialised in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a tool for development and is active in Africa and Latin America. We bring about technical and social innovations that create and enhance development opportunities in education, health, economic development and water and climate resilience. The Community Relations team is responsible for: 1. Resource mobilisation activities (e.g. proposal writing, program design, liaising with strategic partners and donors; these activities are carried out in collaboration with the Country Programs team), 2. Knowledge sharing and dissemination (e.g. internally with staff and partners in program countries and with a wider audience through conferences, publications etc.) and 3. Impact and Learning activities (e.g. monitoring activities and impact measurements). The team consists of 9 professionals and we are currently offering a position as a community relations officer, i.e.:

Summary of key responsibilities
Specific
  • Acquisition processes with client organisations, donors, strategic partners (e.g. private, public sector), which includes: networking, identification of funding opportunities, program development, proposal writing, alliance development, facilitation of alliance meetings, organising partnership events, and advanced budgeting for proposals and bids. With reference to the themes Agriculture, Water and Climate Resilience, and/or Economic Development;
  • Reporting and account management for funders in portfolio, which includes progress meetings and reporting on outputs, outcomes and impact on various levels;
  • Co-responsible for the strategy, development and implementation of resource mobilisation activities with a specific emphasis on public/private partnerships in one or more of these themes: Agriculture, Water and Climate Resilience, and/or Economic Development;
  • Responsible for development of marketing materials and knowledge sharing materials for defined audiences.
General
  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relations with IICD staff and critical stakeholders in order to implement the community relations strategy, and producing intended results and using these relationships to identify new opportunities;
  • Participating in meetings and presenting information, proposals, results, achievements and recommendations as appropriate.
Specific knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • 5+ years experience in professional resource mobilisation activities;
  • Advanced skills in the complete fundraising cycle: e.g. market mapping, partnership strategy development, negotiation, budgeting, facilitation and chairing of partnership meetings, donor relationship management, reporting and monitoring;
  • Experience in business development (i.e. business modelling for public/private development initiatives);
  • Able to demonstrate a track record of resource mobilisation for public/private initiatives;
  • Advanced program design and proposal writing skills for institutional and private sector donors;
  • Results oriented and used to work with fundraising targets;
  • Excellent written, verbal, networking and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Fluent in English (speaking and writing). Fluent Dutch, Spanish or French is a plus;
  • Field experience in development cooperation (e.g. ICT4D) is a plus.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
  • Master's Degree;
  • Thematic expertise and knowledge of ICTs for one or more of the thematic areas: Agriculture, Water and Climate Resilience and/or Economic development a plus;
  • Up-to-date knowledge of recent developments in international development and ICT4D-related issues;
  • EU/Dutch working permit required;
  • Self-motivated, responsible, with proven commitment to continuous learning and self-development;
  • Independent worker able to create and maintain a network with decision-makers of iNGOs, institutional funds and private entities;
  • Positive, enthusiastic, smart, sharp, flexible and perfectly able to adapt to fast changing (working) environments;
  • High degree of professional versatility and hands-on capability;
  • Convincing presenter for small and large groups;
  • A team player
