Lead C&P Advisor
The Organisation
Our assets in Trinidad and Tobago are vitally important to BG Group, with gas being supplied to the domestic market and fed into Atlantic LNG for export, primarily to North America. We supply gas to three of four LNG trains at Atlantic LNG in which we are also a shareholder. This represents fully integrated projects involving production and liquefaction, shipping and re-gasification for onward sale into the US market. Our current exploration focus is the phased development of the North Coast Marine Area.
Position Summary
A key member of BG T&T’s C&P Team embedded in the Production Operations Team.
The jobholder leads the delivery of Materials Procurement for Production Operations (including Inventory and ‘direct order’ Materials) and the call-off of services. Based upon 2013 data this involves some 2,000 Purchase Orders and Call-offs with spend of US$ 80-90 million per year.
This is a category management role with the job holder leading a team of 4 staff and also being an individual contributor.
Key Accountabilities

In addition to any specific accountabilities for HSSE, all managers are accountable for HSSE within their area of the Business and are responsible for ensuring that their team members adopt exemplary HSSE behaviours.
The jobholder leads the delivery of Materials Procurement for Production Operations (including Inventory and ‘direct order’ Materials) and the call-off of services, delivering C&P solutions to optimise value creation, control and safety management, specifically:
Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE):
Ensuring contractor selection, award and performance management processes drive optimal HSSE performance.
Change Management
Ensuring integration of the Group and Asset C&P agenda, and recommending new contract approaches.
Implementing Framework Agreements for materials supply to leverage value and significantly improve efficiency of procurement/call-off.
Value Delivery
Leading delivery of sub-category strategies for materials and delivering sourcing solutions which underpin delivery of safety (Process and Personal), quality, schedule and competitive total cost.
Providing advice to direct reports and others in the Production Operations Team on effective sourcing of Materials.
Ensuring integration of the Group and Asset C&P agenda (e.g. for Valves and Valve maintenance), and recommending new contract approaches.
Collaborating with Asset Logistics & Materials Management staff and leading the development of Inventory sourcing strategies.
Governance and Control
Conducting all C&P activities in accordance with the BG Group Policy and Standards, and where feasible utilizing Group C&P and Production Operations systems architecture.
Undertaking due diligence to mitigate risk from supplier selection through to contract execution.
Ensuring compliance with PSA /JV requirements to minimise risks to cost recovery.
Performance Management and Best Practice Transfer
Coordinating performance management of Materials procurement, including developing and implementing a performance management process based on business value and risk.
Participating actively in internal networks, and establishing external relationships with cross-industry peers, to maintain understanding of the business environment as it effects Materials supply.
Personal and Professional Development
Broadening and deepening own Functional, HSSE, interpersonal, business and leadership skills through continuing personal and professional development.
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Competent in all phases of the C&P process. Able to develop and implement more complex asset-level sourcing/category management approaches in line with C&P strategy, and make material contributions to regional and global initiatives.
Understands and ensures compliance with relevant regulatory, legislative and ethical standards and requirements.
Demonstrates strong analytical skills, and the ability to influence and lead ad hoc cross-functional teams.
Educated to degree level; membership of a relevant professional body (eg MCIPS, CPSM, MIIAPS) preferred.
Fluent in the English language, and able to communicate effectively in written and oral presentations.
The jobholder may be required to undertake occasional national and international travel.
Record of good performance and value delivery in a number of sourcing, category management, performance management or C&P process development roles.
Wide experience of different markets, categories and/or systems.
Growing an established network of external relationships
Wide experience of materials management best practices.
Detailed knowledge of work management and sourcing systems.
