Exploration Drilling Superintendent
The Organisation

This will deliver a more sustainable future and robust business proposition for Europe E&P, as well as enhanced development opportunities for individuals across the combined teams. With a joint portfolio producing over 100 kboe/ day, our goal is to continue building a truly excellent Exploration and Production business in Europe E&P.
Position Summary
Accountable to ensure the wells program is delivered safely, efficiently and within budget and in compliance with BG policies and local government regulations and guidance
Key Accountabilities
Safety & Compliance
Ensure safety has the highest priority and is at the forefront of well planning, execution and in discussions with all contractors and service providers
Ensure BG policies, local government regulations and PSA (Production Sharing agreement) requirements are fully complied with
Ensure the full team is adequately trained and competent in safety management skills and comply with operating area and company reporting requirements
Perform ASA’s (Advanced Safety Audits) and contractor compliance audits on a regular basis
Be part of and initiate accident and incident investigations as required.
To ensure all contractor and service providers and fully conversant in BG’s safety expectations and hold regular meetings with all local managers
Attend Contractor safety meetings and HSE forum meeting as available
To ensure all safety actions are tracked and closed out in a timely manner
To ensure an equipment assurance programme is in place
To ensure a documented trail to all key decisions
To ensure all wells team are in compliance with required mandatory certification
Operations
To ensure full well planning is performed in a timely manner to meet requirements of BG well planning process
To ensure all 3rd party services are on board with adequate resources (people and equipment) to meet the wells requirements.
To manage and monitor daily wells operations
Maintain close liaison with sub-surface specialists with regard to pore / fracture pressure gradient prediction work and other base assumptions used for Well Engineering simulation work.
Ensure that all long lead rig equipment and upgrades are specified, tendered ordered and procured in a timely optimum manner to meet the overall project schedule.
Monitor performance and technical integrity of contractors and service providers
To ensure full cover for 24 hour rig operations
Ensure good and regular communications with all wells team in operating area and TVP as required
To ensure wells programmes and amendments are approved and distributed as required
Review BG operated programmes to ensure compliance with policies, procedures and recognised best practice.
To ensure stock levels of BG supplied goods are adequately maintained and available to meet the well schedule
Maintain close contact with service companies to ensure the latest techniques and equipment are brought into play in a timely and effective manner.
Ensure a full schedule is maintained for well operations
Ensure senior management are kept fully abreast of all key risks and issues
Ensure a close working relationship with BG 3rd party services
Federal
Participate in local Drilling Network meetings
Participate in local and external peer reviews/assists as required
Ensure good networking with external forums
Ensure external and internal benchmarking data is collected and distributed as required
Participate in operating area delivery of performance contract
Be part of Emergency Response Team as directed per operating area
Key Performance Indicators
No accidents and incidents
Delivery of wells within targets established (time/cost).
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Technical knowledge - An in depth knowledge and appreciation of Well Engnieering Design, Well Engineering Operations specifically on Exploration wells, specific experience of drilling in the North Sea.
Personal attributes - Self starting, patient, decisive, ability to work in multicultural environments, good problem sovling skills and resourceful.
