Application Specialist - Chicago area
Dormer Tools North America, a leading manufacturer of High Speed Steel & carbide round tools, and part of the world leading Dormer Tools Group, has an open position for an Application Specialist for the Chicago area.
The role
The individual employed in this position must be able to fulfill all the requirements of this position, including requirements related to the company's Safety, Quality and Environmental Management System Policies and procedures.
Under general direction, the Application Specialist will perform duties to support internal and external customers for all Dormer brands with a primary focus on indexable tools in order to secure profitable market share growth and budget attainment in accordance with established protocols, practices and procedures.
Key performance areas
- Travel throughout the assigned sales region supporting the local sales team by focusing on primary targeted end users and channel partners for growth opportunities with all Dormer product lines, primarily focusing on indexable tools in coordination with the Regional Manager and Sales Representatives.
- Provide technical and sales support as the Application Specialist for end-user, channel partners and the sales team as needed to facilitate the closing of the sale.
- Drive new product introduction through the sales force via training, joint sales call activity and testing activities.
- Review productivity reports and documentation from customers and sales representatives as well as recommend, support and assist in closing the sales in key targeted end users.
- Coordinate problem resolution with manufacturing engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs, identify quality issues and/or facilitation of modifications.
- Help in develop educational materials and bulletins based on field investigations, engineering changes, and overall knowledge of product.
- Provide a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.
- Develop and conduct training to customers and channel partners as well as inside and outside sales teams on the proper selection and application of products.
- Other duties as assigned.
Your profile
- AS in engineering or equivalent; additional technical training
- 5 years sales experience of metal removal tooling – primarily indexable and round tools
- Cutting tool technical support experience a plus
- Knowledge of metal removal manufacturing with a strong focus on indexable tooling.
- Proficiency in MS Office; Excel, PowerPoint, Word
- Excellent communication/presentation skills, oral and written
- Highly motivated; Strong organizational skills
- Disciplined self-starter; Ability to multitask
- Customer Service Orientation
- Frequent domestic business travel – up to 80%
- Must be eligible to work in the US.
- Must adhere to Sandvik Code of Conduct Policy
