System Administrator Job at Pharmacy Council Tanzania
Pharmacy Council is a body corporate established under the Pharmacy Act Cap. 311 responsible for regulation of pharmacy practices including issuance of licenses and permits to pharmacy businesses in Tanzania. The Council has the following vacancies for which suitably qualified candidates are invited to apply.
System Administrator
Duty Station : Dar es Salaam
Reports to :Registrar
Overall Responsibility
The System Administrator reports to the Registrar and shall be responsible to assist the Council on issues related to information communication and technology.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution with minimum of three (3) years working experience.
Knowledge and experience on working with Management Information Systems,
Understanding of JAVA/C++/PHP programming language and MS SOL will' be an added an advantage.
Extensive experience with network technologies, including local-area network (LAN) protocols, wide-area network (WAN) protocols, IP routing, DHCp, DNS, Active Directory, TFTP, and WINS.
Significant experience with server technologies, including MS Windows based,
VM Ware and server operating systems - MS Windows Server 2003, MS
Windows Server 2008/R2, MS Windows Server 2012.
Duties and Responsibilities
Administering database and network;
Documenting present technical procedures, operating method and new systems
Scheduling, upgrading and securing backups of hardware, database and
software systems;
Monitoring and testing backup procedures;
Installing, supporting and maintaining existing and new hardware and software
infrastructure for computer systems and networks;
Researching and installing new systems, and ensuring that all ICT equipment
comply with industrial standards;
Implementing software licensing laws and advising where necessary; _
Implementing and monitoring data and network security from internal and
external attacks;
Managing the institution website;
Monitoring uses of resources by the staff, including use of intranet, websites
and e-mails;
Ensuring the smooth running of ICT systems including anti-virus software,
printing services and e-mail provision;
Ensuring secure access to networked remote users;
Proper handling of all classified information he/she has access to, and refraining
from divulging the same to unauthorized persons;
Keeps the inventory of all equipment, maintains network documentation, and
provides desktop support
Participating in the preparation of departmental annual budget and plans;
Prepares and submit periodic reports; and
Performs any other duties assigned by the Registrar.
