Purpose of the job

The Regional Head of Compliance, EMEA, will be responsible for enhancing and implementing DaVita’s compliance program in EMEA, with a focus on Anti-Corruption Law Compliance, both the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) and local anti-corruption and anti-bribery Laws. The Regional Head of Compliance, EMEA, will be a strategic partner to the executive management team of EMEA and member of the global compliance team.
The position is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It requires frequent travel throughout EMEA, including to Saudi Arabia, and occasional travel to the United States.
This position reports to the President of EMEA and the International Chief Compliance Officer.

Essential duties and responsibilities

  • Help ensure DaVita’s EMEA operations are conducted in compliance with applicable laws and regulations, with a focus on all applicable anti-corruption and anti-bribery laws;
  • Provide hands-on advice on Compliance-related issues;
  • Conduct third party due diligence on intermediaries and vendors;
  • Ensure awareness of and compliance with the DaVita Code of Conduct;
  • Develop, maintain and enhance the Regional Compliance Manual, containing regional and country-specific policies and procedures;
  • Lead on-line and in person compliance training and communication initiatives in EMEA;
  • Manage the EMEA Compliance Hotline for each jurisdiction;
  • Conduct compliance risk assessments and audits of relevant risk areas; collaborate with the business to implement recommended enhancements;
  • Serve as a strategic partner of the executive management team of EMEA in identifying and evaluating business and compliance risks, proposing solutions to these risks, and implementing processes to mitigate these risks in close consultation and with the International Chief Compliance Officer;
  • Support a significant project in Saudi Arabia, where there is one full-time dedicated compliance resource who reports into this position;
  • Be an effective liaison to other DaVita corporate functions, including the Justice League (Legal), Finance and People Services (Human Resources);
  • Increase “compliance awareness” of the executive team;
  • Conduct internal compliance investigations as necessary;
  • Be the ‘Budget Manager’ for all compliance-related EMEA expenses;
  • Maintain awareness and knowledge of the EMEA compliance landscape, government policies and regulations regarding healthcare, FCPA enforcement, and other initiatives that may impact the healthcare industry and the compliance program;
  • Serve as Chair of the Regional Compliance Committee;
  • Leverage and support local “Compliance Champions” in each country;
  • Work seamlessly and smoothly with outside advisors.

Minimum Qualifications

Typically a graduate law degree; business degree or other relevant graduate or post-graduate education will be considered.
  • 5-10 years relevant, hands-on post-qualification experience, of which at least 5 years compliance experience with a publicly listed multinational enterprise;
  • Must have solid experience in working for and dealing with US Fortune 500 companies and US-based multinational businesses;
  • Knowledge of the culture and business environment of EMEA;
  • Demonstrated ability to work together with and effectively supervise outside advisors;
  • Healthcare provider experience preferred, Dialysis or similar provider services experience a plus;
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively produce a high quality of work and to initiate the completion of extensive multiple tasks in a fast-paced, ever-changing and evolving work environment;
  • Team player with excellent multi-cultural, interpersonal and communications skills;
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency in MS Office suite.

Language skills

  • Fluency in spoken and written English required;
  • Familiarity with other European languages and/or Arabic attractive;
  • Ability to adapt to and understand foreign cultures and sensitivities;
  • Able to communicate effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
