We are now looking for Design Engineers to join and support the current R&D team and projects; of existing product sustainability and future development. As a key point of contact for your areas of expertise you will work closely within the R&D team whilst supporting manufacturing, quality assurance, procurement, aftermarket, technical support, marketing and other key areas on various topics and technologies.
Job Summary
As a Design Engineer you will ensure a safe working environment abiding by all necessary health and safety requirements and legislation. You will be the key point of contact for your areas of expertise. A strong innovator, you will work closely with the R&D team and other departments to drive the development of existing products and processes. You will provide technical support for the company's product range. This includes delivering targets on time and supporting internal/external functions with business initiatives. A strong problem solver, you will support the manufacturing facility and the supportive functions through the use of the investigation and design techniques when required. You will be required to analyse internal/external feedback, implemented action plans and communicate with key stakeholders.
You will support a platform for continuous improvement of the existing product range. You will achieve this through the creation and maintenance of technical design documentation using activities such as designing, prototyping and reviewing mechanical components and assemblies such as engineering models, drawings, change notices, operating manuals and bills of materials. A strong communicator, you will create links with relevant departments, key stakeholders and resources to progress the business further. Where your expertise are applicable you will implement and support departmental or business initiatives to improve ways of working and reduce costs. You will keep abreast of industry trends and issues.
Based at our site in Ballygawley there may be a requirement for occasional travel to other SMRT sites worldwide.
Your profile
You have a relevant degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering. Previous experience working within a team to deliver projects within agreed quality and timeframe. You have experience in the use of 3D modeling design software with strong analytical and time management skills. You have previous experience of heavy manufacturing, production processes and systems. You possess excellent written and oral communication skills and are proficient in Microsoft office software; you act as a role model at all times.
