Position: Project Coordination and Research Trainee
Duration: 6 months (full time)

Over one-quarter of the world’s population lives without access to electricity. Off-grid lighting addresses this challenge by providing light to those in need. The move to off-grid lighting is transforming lives and economies in developing countries around the world by increasing incomes, assisting educational development and improving health and safety.
The Global Off-Grid Lighting Association (GOGLA) is a neutral, independent, not-for-profit association created to promote lighting and electrification solutions that benefit society and businesses in developing and emerging markets. GOGLA acts as the industry advocate and supports the industry in growing and strengthening the market for clean, quality off-grid lighting and electrical systems. Its main objective is to support industry in scaling the sector based on principles of the triple bottom line, thus contributing to the objectives of Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). GOGLA is seeking a motivated trainee related to international development to support the GOGLA Office. You will work in an international and dynamic environment. Your tasks will concentrate on
  • research and analysis, in the fields of social impact and market data, as well as business development
  • support the work of the GOGLA Office on the coordination of the topical working groups (policy, social impact, business development) and projects
  • drafting of reports, and development of content for GOGLA communication
  • provide support to the organization of GOGLA events and the general administration of the Association.

We are seeking for candidates available to work at GOGLA’s office in Utrecht for a period of 6 months. Required Skills and Experience:
  • a master or bachelor degree in international economics or related
  • a very high level of passion for sustainable development in general and energy access in particular
  • prior work experience in the field of international sustainable development (including internships)
  • strong analytical skills
  • proficient use of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook
  • a high proficiency of spoken and written English, other languages are considered an asset
  • an inquisitive mind and a very pro-active attitude
  • a keen eye for details
  • strong personal and social skills

The traineeship is remunerated at with a gross salary of EUR 1500 – 2000, depending on experience and age (based on Dutch schedule for minimum wage).
