We are now looking for Technical Authors to support an environment of continuous user safety by developing and producing operational and safety documentation for the entire range of Sandvik Mobile Crushing and Screening equipment. The role actively supports various departments including aftermarket, sales, engineering, quality assurance and technical support
Job Summary
As a Technical Author you will maintain accurate and up to date user documentation, ensuring Sandvik mobile crushing and screening equipment can be understood and operated in a safe, efficient manner. This includes updating layouts using Adobe FrameMaker templates,implementing engineering changes into manuals, using drawings, working with engineers, collating information to write new manual sections for engine upgrades and keeping an up to date record of manual progress using chapter plans. You will be a main contact and support for questions regarding technical publications for mobile crushers and screens, acting as an ambassador in our way of working. You will take responsibility for concisely communicating highly technical information and asses and develop existing documentation management processes to improve, streamline and reduce duplication. You will represent Technical Publications in product development meetings; contributing and sharing information.
Based at our site in Ballygawley there may be a requirement for occasional travel to other SMRT sites worldwide.
Your profile
You have a relevant degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering or a related technical communication area, with previous experience working within a team to deliver technical documentation projects within agreed quality and timeframe. You have experience in the use of 3D image manipulation software and CAD packages and are proficient in XML authoring and user manual creation with Adobe FrameMaker. You have previous experience of off-highway equipment and plant, drive systems, hydraulics, and electrical controls. Experience of documenting industrial risk assessments would be advantageous. You possess excellent written and oral communication skills and have a thorough understanding of user manual requirements. You will need to be able to understand engineering models, drawings and mechanical components and have experience of the following software or similar: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Creo Illustrate, Creo IsoDraw.
