Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology is a leading supplier of equipment and tools, service and support for the mining industry. We also provide solutions and knowledge in a wide range of applications such as quarrying, recycling, demolition, tunneling, civil engineering and dimensional stone.
Product Area Rock Drills andTechnology is responsible for the development of technologies and products which serve all Product Areas within Sandvik Mining & Rock Technologies worldwide, including rock drills, automation, data driven productivity, common research and technologies and engineering services. Business Unit Rock Drills develops & produces rock drills and rotary heads used in underground and surface drills. In order to strengthen our operations, we are now looking for an energetic Lean Project Manager to drive the implementation of Lean Project Management initially focusing on our Rock Drills New Product Development (NPD). This role is a permanent position reporting to the Product Line Manager. This position is based in Tampere.
Key performance areas
Implement Lean & Agile process method for BU Rock Drills NPD projects and work with the management team in PA Rock Drills & Technology to implement Lean & Agile NPD methodology. Prepare detailed project plans to implement Lean & Agile to an agreed timeline & budget.
Demonstrate the value & benefits of a Lean & Agile approach to NPD projects. Develop the Lean & Agile NPD process for Sandvik Mining Rock Technology and work closely with the Product Areas to identify the benefits & plan the implementations.
You will be the ‘owner’ of the Lean & Agile process and you will act as a mentor across the organization to promote, develop and implement the process.
You will develop a Lean & Agile training plan for the organization and will take the lead on the delivery of internal training across Sandvik, and work with managers to develop Lean & Agile competencies.
Develop Lean & Agile project KPIs and implement the reporting templates.
Within the Lean & Agile NPD process you will establish the required governance and financial sign off for projects that meet the Sandvik Financial Guidelines.
Lead, manage and motivate the project team and manage dependencies, risks and opportunities.
Create, develop and execute the Project Plan and allocate and secure the required resources for the project.
Execute projects according to Sandvik Project models and appropriate methods
Manage changes to the project scope imposed by e.g. customer or steering group decisions.
You will drive continuous improvement and look to develop new ways of working and best practice for NPD Project development across the organization.
Your profile
The qualified candidate will possess a suitable Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering or another technology related field and at least 10 years of experience in a position leading Lean & Agile NPD processes and methodologies in an international manufacturing environment, preferable in heavy machinery, mining or construction
You have a successful track record of implementing change in large international organizations and. You have proven experience in building and implementing process models. You are comfortable interacting with all levels of the organization, building networks and showing understanding of the wider business needs.
You have a passion for excellent leading & managerial performance. You are capable of clearly expressing your ideas and have a strong interest in working with experts across cultural boundaries.
You are eager to learn all the time new products, solutions, processes and IT tools – lifelong learning is your key motivator.
