Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a leading global supplier of equipment, tools, service, and technical solutions for the mining industry. The product offering covers rock drilling, rock cutting, rock crushing, loading and hauling and materials handling.
Key performance areas
As the Inventory Planner, you will be responsible for the management of parts inventory at the global hub located in the United States at our Romeoville, IL location. Your main responsibilities will be parts inventory management, strategic stock process support, and operational performance reporting. A strong focus on safety is a must – the planning and implementation of the regional business infrastructure must be in line with Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology’s EHS policies, procedures, and objectives at all times.
Additional Inventory Planner responsibilities include:
  • Improving customer experience and availability (fill rate) of Parts standard assortment in the stockrooms of responsibility
  • Responsible for sales stock, goods in transit, production stock and obsolescence reserve in the stockrooms of responsibility
  • Analysing and maintaining inventory parameters setting for standard assortment in the stockrooms of responsibility
  • Responsible for the strategic stock in the stockrooms of responsibility
  • Coordinating with warehouse manager on any improvement activities related with inventory control
  • Analysing and driving stock optimization initiatives (i.e.: returns process) on a regular basis, acting as decision maker for slow and non-moving items centralization
  • Participating and supporting regional/global initiatives or projects as needed
Location is flexible but will based at out of an existing Sandvik office location, preferably Fair Lawn, NJ, Smyrna, GA or Mississauga, Canada
Your profile
The ideal Inventory Planner will possess a minimum of 5 years working experience in supply chain management. A Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain/Business/Engineering or related field is required, with an MsC, MBA, or APICS certification preferred. You also possess knowledge of the aftermarket business and/or mining business, and experience within the mining industry is highly preferred. You have comprehensive knowledge of Supply Chain Management and Parts inventory challenges, and a strong history of resolving them successfully.
You are detail-oriented and analytical, with excellent problem solving skills. Your negotiation and communication skills are top notch, and you possess strong business acumen.
Additionally, the Inventory Planner:
  • Is experienced with the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel
  • Possesses knowledge of ERP systems and business management tools, System 21knowledge would be a plus
  • Is fluent in English
