Sandvik Powder and Blanks Technology in Coventry develops, manufactures and markets a wide range of products, principally using the unique properties of cemented carbide. They are currently looking for an EHS Coordinator to coordinate and organise EHS activities on site and to help provide a safe and environmentally sustainable work environment, including driving continual improvement in EHS performance.
Job summary
As an EHS Coordinator you will contribute to the development and delivery of the EHS plan and the monitoring of performance. You will implement EHS projects as defined by the EHS Manager, EHS committee, or management team. The role also includes delivery of EHS training, incident investigation and hazard and risk management in collaboration with all site departments. You will ensure that the site EHS management system is kept up to date and reviewed as necessary including continual improvement of the EHS management system. You will also support compliance to site ISO and OHSAS certifications and deliver in auditing activities.You will advise Management and Employees on all general aspects relevant safety legislation, but in particular COMAH, COSHH and DSEAR to ensure compliance with current safety regulations, with the primary aim of providing and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment throughout the business.
You will need to communicate to all levels of the site team to cascade EHS systems, training and other improvements – this will be through a mixture or influencing, persuading and negotiating. You will discuss workload and work requirements with the EHS Manager, and can be assigned work from members of the management team. You will also be responsible for communicating with other Sandvik EHS professionals and third parties external to the business.

The successful candidate must hold a NEBOSH National General Certificate as a minimum, a Diploma is desirable. You have strong IT skills (including Microsoft office), literacy skills and strong knowledge of management systems. You also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You are a team player, proactive and show commitment and initiative. You are a professional who is keen to learn and grow as it is adevelopmental position. A working and proven background in Health & Safety is essential.
