About

Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon®, an independent affiliate of the George W. Bush Institute, is a global partnership of national governments, non-governmental (NGO) and multilateral organizations, foundations, and corporations with a shared goal of reducing deaths from cervical cancer and breast cancer in low- and middle-income countries. Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon was launched in September 2011 by the George W. Bush Institute, the United States Government through the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), Susan G. Komen®, and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS). Now an independent non-profit, Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon works with partners and stakeholders to prevent and treat cervical cancer, and provide services for the early detection and treatment of breast cancer, with locally adapted solutions. Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon partners deliver services on the ground in each of our countries of engagement, and a small headquarters staff coordinates these efforts and resources, and provides oversight and technical assistance. By building upon existing health platforms, infrastructure, and resources, we’re able to bring cervical and breast cancer services and education to girls and women around the world where need is greatest. Our cervical and breast cancer screening services target women between the ages of 30 and 49, who are most at risk for invasive cervical cancer, and HIV-positive women, whose compromised immune systems make them up to five times more likely to develop cervical cancer. Since our inception, we have screened over 300,000 women for cervical cancer, and over 15,000 women for breast cancer, and supported the vaccination of almost 120,000 girls against human papillomavirus, the virus that causes cervical cancer.

Position Overview

Cervical cancer is a largely preventable disease and can be diagnosed and treated easily at low cost, but it currently causes 276,000 deaths per year, 87% of which occur in developing countries. Breast cancer, while not preventable, can be treated; with early detection, breast cancer can be a treatable disease and not a death sentence. However, 485,000 women die from breast cancer each year, 60% of whom live in low-resource settings. Better data systems can be powerful tools to understand the impact of disease as well as the effectiveness of programs, which allow us to improve approaches to reach more women. The Monitoring, Evaluation, and Impact Coordinator will contribute to improving monitoring and evaluation by analyzing data to understand the link between HIV and cervical cancer, weighing the effectiveness of different delivery settings and cost-effectiveness of new approaches and technologies, and analyzing where programs can be improved, therefore understanding how to better target resources. The coordinator will also create better tools to streamline data collection and reporting and will work across partners and stakeholders to disseminate results. Analyzing this data, monitoring our programs, and evaluating our results will help Pink Ribbon Red Ribbon to design programs and partnerships to help women where needs are greatest.

Responsibilities
