Parliamentary Assistant to Claudia Tapardel, MEP

A full time basis Accredited Parliamentary Assistant position is available in the office of Claudia Tapardel, MEP in the European Parliament, Brussels.
MEP Ana-Claudia Tapardel is a Romanian S&D member of the Transport and Tourism Committee (TRAN). She is the Co-Chair of the Intergroup on the European Tourism Development.
Place: Brussels
Starting date: Beginning of February 2017
Required skills and qualities:
  • Romanian native speaker
  • Proven knowledge and advanced experience with European transport policies
  • Knowledge of the main EU repports and directives in transport and tourism;
  • Very good analytical skills;
  • A proven track record as an assistant in a political environment, applicants with good experience (minimum 2 years) from the European Parliament will have preference;
  • An excellent command of English (written and spoken). Skills in Spanish and French is a plus
  • Commitment to the aims and values of the S&D
  • Forensic attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise work and meet deadlines
Duties:
  • Working on TRAN reports and opinions, including policy research, presentations, briefing notes on transport and tourism related issues
  • Being well informed and keeping updated the activities in TRAN committee
  • Assistance with political activities, following legislation as it passes though committee and formulating policy
  • Liaise with constituents and outside organisations via the telephone, correspondence, emails and face to face meetings
  • Respond to emails/letters and draft/send responses as appropriate
  • Provide secretarial and administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the office
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as required by the Member
  • Events organisation and office management
