Full Stack Developer/SysAdmin

WindEurope (formerly EWEA, the European Wind Energy Association) is the voice of the wind industry - actively promoting wind power on behalf of member organizations in Europe and worldwide. Our resources are focused on policy activities, lobbying and supporting our members.
The Full Stack Developer/SysAdmin is WindEurope’s in-house developer and system administrator – responsible for the development, deployment and maintenance of software, systems, applications, web platforms and computer-based business intelligence products as well as WindEurope’s web infrastructure.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Web and application development
  • Design and develop websites and webpages; mobile and interactive applications, as well as newsletter templates;
  • Design and maintain databases for WindEurope’s websites and applications;
  • Cooperate with external sources in the development of websites/pages for specific activities (projects, events, campaigns, etc.);
  • Build systems for deploying WindEurope’s Business Intelligence products;
  • Develop new e-commerce tools with the objective of creating new revenue streams for the association
System administration
  • Manage WindEurope’s web infrastructure;
  • Oversee and implement web security and backup policies/procedures
General
  • Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into operations and activities;
  • Contribute to the updating WindEurope’s websites;
  • Support the development and sending of e-newsletters when needed;
  • Cooperate with Graphic Designer to enforce corporate identity across web platforms.
Required Qualifications:
Experience: 3 years of relevant experience in a similar position.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent skills gained through experience.
Technical skills:
  • Proficient in various scripting and markup languages (PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS) knowledge of some extensions, frameworks and libraries for those languages is expected (e.g. Sass, jQuery, AngularJS, D3.js);
  •  Understanding REST and MVC;
  • Experienced in linking software to 3rd party APIs;
  • Able to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web, software development, testing and server technologies and techniques;
  • Experience with SQL and no-SQL languages is an advantage;
  • Excellent knowledge of Linux – specifically VPS & cloud hosting;
  • Experienced in setting up web services (HTTP, HTTPS, DNS, FTP, Proxy, Firewalls); 
  • Experienced in security and backup policies;
  • Experienced in setting up monitoring services;
  • Comfortable with basic networking;
  • Proficiency in compiled languages is an advantage.

Languages:
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Other European languages are an asset.
