Advocacy Trainee

Mission:
The Advocacy Trainee will work in the Vienna office of SOS Children’s Villages International. S/he will provide support to advocacy services, research projects, update relevant intranet content and assist in the organisation of webinars, meetings and other relevant events.
Tasks and responsibilities:
  • Direct support to the global advocacy advisor at Vienna International Office (IO)
  • Assist with coordination of advocacy capacity-building and research projects
  • Assist with advocacy services of the Vienna IO to SOS Children’s Villages regional and national offices around the world
  • Collect, screen and summarise advocacy related data and information in the area of public policy and children’s rights
  • Draft briefings and other papers as required
  • Write articles, blog posts and updates for the organisational intranet Provide support for the organisation of webinars, meetings, and other events
  • Various tasks assigned by the supervisor
Requirements:
  • Advanced Degree in political science, social science, international development, human/child rights or related field
  • Good research skills, good understanding of statistics and quantitative research methods is an asset
  • Good editing and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary and multi-cultural environments
  • Organised, flexible, ready to meet tight deadlines
  • Analytical mind, commitment to quality and can-do attitude
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and working knowledge of a second UN language, preferably Spanish or French
  • Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, email and calendar applications); Social Media savvy EU/Austrian work permit
