New Product Development Engineer

Key performance areas
As a New Product Development Engineer based at our West branch facility, you will be responsible for designing, planning and implementing manufacturing plans for new products in our tungsten carbide-based business lines. You will work cross-functionally with operations, sales and product management to develop new product solutions in a cost-efficient and timely manner.
Other responsibilities for the position will include:
  • Be the single-point site contact for new product development and manufacturing.
  • Receive requests for new products from sales, product management etc. in the form of drawings and evaluate them for manufacturing feasibility.
  • Work with sourcing, supply chain and operations to propose and implement a suitable manufacturing solution to fabricate new products.
  • Ensure efficient execution to meet cost targets and time commitments.
  • Prepare presentation material and make presentations to internal and external customers as needed.
  • Participate and conduct training as and when required.
  • Create and foster a “Safety First” culture.
  • Conduct business in an ethical manner in compliance with the company’s policies
Your profile
The ideal candidate for this position will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field with 2 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. You possess knowledge of manufacturing processes required to process carbide / ceramic parts and achieve desired tolerances. Knowledge of powder processing, carbide manufacturing etc. with specific emphasis on sintering and pressing is highly desired, but not essential.
You are self-motivated and adept at multi-tasking and prioritizing in order to meet strict deadlines. You possess strong analytical and problem solving skills and your communication skills (verbal and written) are excellent.
Additionally the New Product Design Engineer will possess:
  • Ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings
  • Strong skills in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Previous experience in computer aided design (CAD) is preferred
