TANZANIA - STRATEGY BASELINE CONSULTANT

Salary: Please see Terms of Reference

As the leading agency for youth led development, we put young people at the heart of our work, from community to board level. We transfer the power and responsibility into the hands of young people and communities who can achieve a real, lasting impact, whether it’s responding to challenges such as lack of access to quality education, building sustainable livelihoods and economic security, or long-term HIV prevention. We believe that it is young people who are able to find solutions to those issues most important to them and drive success.
In March 2016, we came to an end of our 2011/2016 strategic plan. We embarked in developing a new strategy Kizazi Kipya (New Generation) which draws on our rich body of evidence and research including; Youth-led State of the Youth Studies 2012 and 2013; numerous programme-based consultations; and The Big Conversation, a participatory youth survey we conducted in February 2015 to identify young people’s priorities for their development, for their leadership, and how they want to create change in Tanzania. This reached out to 565 young people directly, and involved in-depth consultations with 67 national and local stakeholders. Their views were rich and varied but their biggest priorities were clear; young people want better employment and job opportunities, better well-being enabled through access to services, to participate in decision making and a more responsive government. It is these priorities that have informed our strategy and focus. Young people are ready to take up – and are calling for a leadership role in development and in our agency. This call speaks directly to the tone and drive of our strategy – to enable the Peak Youth generation to lead a new type of development that will ensure the success of Tanzania National Development Goals and SDGs.
We are seeking to recruit a qualified consultant to work with us to conduct strategy baseline and develop a strategy information database. The consultancy will design the baseline study, prepare tools as per strategy indicators, analyzing information collected, baseline report preparation and setting up of live data base to capture strategy progress against targets. Restless Development, Tanzania operates in four programme offices: Iringa, Mbeya, Ruvuma and Dar es Salaam and additional 13 other regions through active and registered alumni networks, consortium and local youth organisations.
