APHRC Research Officer
The African Population & Health Research Center (APHRC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization committed to conducting high quality and policy relevant research on population, health, education and development issues facing sub-Saharan Africa.
APHRC is collaborating with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Netherlands Interdisciplinary Demographic Institute (NIDI) in a project aimed at tracking of financial resource flows for population activities in African countries.
To support this initiative the Center seeks to recruit a Research Officer to be based in Nairobi.
Main Responsibilities:

To support this initiative the Center seeks to recruit a Research Officer to be based in Nairobi.
Main Responsibilities:
- Leading data collection activities via emails, and data entry using an application developed in Microsoft Access
- Leading data analysis and report writing
- Assisting in writing scientific papers including literature review
- Preparing project reports and policy briefs
Qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience:
- A Masters degree in Demography/Population Studies.
- Candidates with a Master in Statistics and some interest/experience in demography/population studies will also be considered
- Knowledge of MS Access and preferably SQL server
- Strong quantitative skills and familiarity with Microsoft Excel and statistical software packages (STATA, SPSS)
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- At least two years relevant experience in a similar position
- Good communication skills. Fluency in French is desirable.
- Good familiarity with subjects related to reproductive health, family planning, HIV/AIDS and other population activities will be an added advantage
