Associate Professor in Psychology

FACULTY OF ARTS AND LAW

The successful appointee will be responsible for planning, teaching and coordinating undergraduate and post-graduate courses and programme in psychology; be able to provide theoretical strength and academic leadership in the discipline; possess specialist expertise in two or more of the following areas - health psychology; cross-cultural psychology; counseling and therapy; personality and abnormal psychology; human development; and research methods; be experienced in a range of teaching modes including face-to-face, distance learning and flexi-school formats; liaise effectively with in-country and regional organizations; and be a constructive leader and team player.

Applicants must have a strong first degree in psychology and a Masters and PhD in an appropriate area of Psychology; possess theoretical strength and practical experience in two or more of the following: health psychology; cross-cultural psychology; counseling and therapy; personality and abnormal psychology; human development; and psychological research methods; substantial experience in developing and teaching undergraduate degree and post-graduate programs in psychology at a tertiary level in a Pacific or non-western cultural setting, and similar field experience conducting research; have a successful history of supervising post-graduate students (Masters and/or PhD level) and a good publications record in appropriate peer-reviewed academic/professional publications; experience in the preparation, teaching and administration of courses in flexible learning, distance teaching and/or innovative modes; and demonstrable ability to develop innovative teaching initiatives; excellent communication and interpersonal relationship, ability to work effectively with staff from other cultural backgrounds and be a licensed, registered or certified psychologist with a recognized professional association or be eligible for such.
