Materials Scientist

Element Six is a multinational group of companies
specialising in the manufacture of synthetic diamonds
and other ultra-hard materials. Much of the Company's
R&D takes place at the Diamond Research Laboratory,
located adjacent to the largest diamond synthesis plant
of its kind in the world, 50 km east of Johannesburg,
South Africa.


Materials Scientist

Responsibilities:
l Hands-on management of research
and development projects
l Develop new materials and
powder processing routes
l Maintain and continuously
improve materials processing and characterisation
R&D infrastructure
l Present research findings to
customers and integrate customer feedback back into
R&D
l Process transfer from R&D to production.

Requirements:
l Postgraduate degree in Ceramics,
Metallurgy, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or
a closely related subject
l A proven track record of
project management, ideally in an R&D environment
l Good people and communication skills at all levels
l Ability to work within a team
l Desire to drive issues to conclusion
l Excellent knowledge of powder
processing science and technology, sintering theory
and practise and the characterisation of powders
and sintered materials
l Several years' experience in a commercial materials environment will be an
advantage
l Good knowledge of hard materials
and abrasive applications, as well as property and
behaviour testing, is desirable.
