Artisans: Mechanical

Suitable candidates are invited to apply for the following position:

ARTISANS: MECHANICAL

Requirements:

  • N3 to N6 Mechanical
  • Qualified Artisan
  • 4 years’ postapprenticeship experience
  • Apprenticeship in a printing environment would be advantageous
  • Advanced training on high and low pressure and vacuum systems
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Knowledge of a variety of printing machines and related processes would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of plate metalwork and manufacturing.


The incumbents will be responsible for the following:

  • Performing maintenance on machines according to service instruction
  • Machining parts using turning lathes, milling machines, surface grinders and key cutters
  • Ensuring machines operate to required standards
  • Identifying problem areas on machines and planning corrective measures
  • Planning or designing improved machine parts
  • Using machines according to safe working procedures
  • Formulating action plans and implementing corrective measures to prevent repeat incidents
  • Manufacturing partitions, tables, chairs and equipment by using workshop machines and processes . (Ref. 1412)

  • Are able to be on standby when the need arises and work shifts and overtime if required.
