HelpAge International helps older people claim their rights, challenge discrimination and overcome poverty, so that they can lead dignified, secure, active and healthy lives. Our work in over 75 countries is strengthened through our global network of like-minded organisations - the only one of its kind in the world.

Following a review undertaken by HelpAge in 2007 on how the humanitarian system responded to the needs of older people, the IASC-WG requested that it assume the role of focal point for the clusters on age.

HelpAge, led by its WWE Unit based in London, has fulfilled this role by working bilaterally with several key organizations and clusters since 2007.

As Humanitarian Advisor - Age to the clusters and other key partners, your primary responsibilities will be to maintain and manage existing partnerships and programmes of work by identifying and developing new strategic collaborations that will directly contribute towards improved assistance and protection for older people in emergencies.

You will have extensive experience in the humanitarian sector including time in the field as well as demonstrated experience of working with the humanitarian cluster system and knowledge of vulnerability and capacity analysis.

Experience of advocacy and policy work is also essential for this role as is the willingness to undertake occasional travel. Fluency in written and spoken French is highly desirable.
