Regional Risk Manager, Latin America Root Capital
Root Capital seeks a talented and versatile Regional Risk Manager for Latin America. The Regional Risk Manager will lead Root Capital’s portfolio risk management and monitoring function in the Latin America region and assist the Regional Director for Latin America in the development of necessary systems and processes. In this capacity, s/he will establish monitoring procedures and tools for the region within the framework of Root Capital’s operational policies, classify risk for loans in the region, and lead the workout and recovery of non-performing loans. S/he will manage the monitoring team in the region and work closely with the Director of Loan Operations to ensure local enforceability of loan documentation, analyze risk in the portfolio, and contribute to risk management policies.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field required. Post-graduate degree in Finance or related field strongly preferred.
2. A minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in commercial lending or related financial services, including risk management.
3. Familiarity with operational and legal issues relating to risk management of banks.
4. Passion for Root Capital’s mission of socially and environmentally responsible lending in developing countries.
5. Ability to manage staff and work collaboratively in cross-functional, international teams; ability to manage and inspire a global, diverse workforce.
6. Ability to exemplify the Root Capital culture to staff and external stakeholders.
7. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
8. Advanced Spanish fluency at a minimum; advanced working knowledge of English required.
9. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed (currently estimated to be about 10% of time).
