The Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) is a successful grant supported scheme targeted at early career graduates and facilitates partnerships between businesses and universities. The partnership employs a KTP Associate through the University with the Associate spending most of the time working at the business partner's location. A KTP grant has recently been awarded to GCU and FMC Technologies Limited. FMC is part of a global subsea commercial organisation which provides a wide range of expertise and facilities required by the oil and gas industries.

The company seeks an ambitious and committed graduate to develop advanced electronic and sensor instrumentation for incorporation into intelligent subsea hydrocarbon production equipment. This will involve the following: review of current subsea sensor technologies, develop electronic design specification for new subsea sensors, design, build and test new subsea sensors, develop a commercial business case for subsea sensors, produce technical documentation and embody new skill sets within the company.

This is a challenging position based at FMC Technologies Limited in Bellshill and will provide an ambitious and committed candidate with invaluable career development and industrial experience.

The successful candidate will possess a minimum of a 2:1 Honours Degree (BEng/BSc) in Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation, Physics or related disciplines. Knowledge and experience of sensors, electronic circuits, interfacing, signal processing and general manufacturing processes are desirable although training will be given in some of these areas.

Candidates will also have a strong desire to develop commercial and business experience and be able to demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills. Being able to take initiative, work independently and also with multi skilled teams are essential elements to the role.
