Lecturer in English Language

The School is looking to appoint to a lectureship in English Language to strengthen the academic team and continue the development of this increasingly popular area.

The post is based in the School of Arts and New Media on the Scarborough Campus. SANM comprises four main subject areas – Creative Music Technology, Digital Media, English and Theatre and Performance – and has a remit to develop both subject-specific and interdisciplinary programmes, research and reachout/enterprise.

English at Scarborough has a strong track record in meeting the high expectations of its students, and has a core commitment to developing academic programmes/modules and extra-curricular activities that include and incorporate professional skills.

Possessing expertise in learning and teaching and a track record in a relevant area of research, the post-holder will have knowledge of core areas of English language and linguistics and be able to contribute to the delivery of modules on language change, applied linguistics and areas of discourse analysis including language and the media.

The successful applicant will be comfortable working in a flexible and forward-looking environment, able to contribute to the planning and delivery of a range of modules on the BA English Literature and Culture and BA English Language and Literature programmes, and the two ‘with’ variants offered by SANM
