The University of Botswana (www.ub.bw) is the largest and most prestigious institution of higher learning in the country. It has opened the country’s first School of Medicine and is on schedule to establishing an adjacent new state-of-art 400-bed Academic Hospital. The first MBBS undergraduate intake was in August 2009. Undergraduate medical training is by a Problem Based Learning [PBL] approach which is integrated and community oriented. A number of MMed programs continue to be introduced. The School of Medicine is inviting applications at the level of Professor, Associate Professor, Senior Lecturer and Lecturer in the following areas; a) Paediatrics and sub-specialties b) Family Medicine c) Dermatology d) Health Economics e) Obstetrics and Gynaecology f) Psychiatry g) Anaesthesia h) Public Health Medicine i) Emergency Medicine j) Radiology k) Internal Medicine & sub-specialties l) General Surgery m) Chemical Pathology n) Haematology & Blood Transfusion o) Medical Microbiology Duties: The successful candidates will teach undergraduates and graduate students, conduct research and provide clinical care in affiliated hospitals. Requirements: Minimum requirements are Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS) or MD and formal qualification in the specialist area which is registered with the Botswana Health Professionals Council and or Medical Council of your home country.
