Research Fellow in CO2 Capture and Transport Engineering

University of Edinburgh

Building on your experience you will work with colleagues to improve knowledge and understanding of CO2 capture and transport system design and operation for CCS (carbon capture and storage) applications. You will be part of the University of Edinburgh team participating in a project funded by the Research Councils UK Energy Programme and a member of the Scottish Carbon Capture and Storage (SCCS) group.

As the lead researcher for one of the Work Packages in the MATTRAN (Materials for Next Generation CO2 Transport) project you will be responsible for working with colleagues across the consortium to develop CO2 inlet specifications for CO2 pipeline systems for CCS. This will require the development and application of analytical methods that are suitable to provide insights into key trade-offs/interactions when CO2 export into CO2 pipeline systems moves away from design conditions.

You will currently hold an appropriate first degree and, preferably, a PhD or equivalent, in a relevant engineering discipline.

The post will be taken up as soon as possible and is for 12 months in the first instance, but will be extended if follow-on funding can be obtained. It is expected that interviews will be held in Edinburgh on either Thursday 29th or Friday 30th September. Candidates invited for interview will be informed by Friday 23rd September.
