Agro-Food Export Specialist, Lebanon
We are currently seeking a short-term Agro-Food Export Specialist for the ongoing USAID-funded ACDI/VOCA Quality Control and Certification Program, aimed at making a sustainable, measurable impact on Lebanon’s food industry by improving the competitiveness of agricultural value chains, which are largely characterized in Lebanon by the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Responsibilities:
Assist Lebanese exporters in:
- Understanding the challenges posed by international standards and how they affect their businesses
- Learning how to use these standards as a basis for competitive repositioning and enhanced export performance
- Being aware of the causes and mechanisms of rejections of Lebanese food products at U.S. and EU borders, and possible corrective actions
- Helping companies understand how to stay informed about 1) rejections and 2) new/changing standards
- Coping with specific standards (for example packaging and labeling requirements)
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in food safety, economics, international trade or other relevant field is required.
- Extensive knowledge in food export regulations, international trade and compliance to standards (with emphasis on U.S. and EU requirements) is required.
- Demonstrated experience conducting seminars, workshops and presentations is required.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Experience in food export issues related to Lebanon or the Middle East preferred.
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
