HSEQ Management System Specialist

RTCA produces approx 50 Mt per annum of export and domestic coal from various mine sites across QLD & NSW. RTCA operates three open cut and one underground operation in central Queensland and three open cut coal mines in the Hunter Valley of NSW.
Reporting to the Corporate Health & Safety Manager your role as the HSEQ Management Systems Specialist will focus on facilitating the implementation, maintenance and currency of the Rio Tinto HSEQ Management System across RTCA owned and operated sites.
The HSE division currently provides support to operations in all aspects including:
  • Health and Safety management but specifically systems, improvement initiatives and reporting
  • Environmental management systems and improvement activities and site environmental functions spanning obtaining mining approvals to closure planning
  • Management of mining tenements and landholdings
  • Management of Workers Compensation
Some of your key accountabilities for this role will include:
  • Ensuring regular HSE checks, inspections and audits are completed
  • Meeting accountabilities as set out in the RTCA Compliance and Conformance Register and Risk Register
  • Assisting with the effective development, implementation and operation of health and safety systems across RTCA
  • Providing investigation, auditing and assessment support to the operations
  • Participating in the development of RTCA H&S planning
  • Development of a detailed plan for implementing and maintaining the Rio Tinto HSEQ Management System across RTCA.
Key to this role will be your experience in HSE management system implementation and auditing. You will also need to possess proven experience with developing and implementing HS&E management systems consistent with ISO18001, ISO14001 and/or AS4801 standards.
Strong project management skills together with a proven record in working with cross-functional teams across multiple geographical locations is also required.
You will also possess formal relevant qualifications coupled with experience in HSE Management Systems implementation or an equivalent level of on-the-job experience within a mining or exploration environment.
