Hope Downs 4 is Rio Tinto Iron Ore's latest Greenfield mine, situated approximately 35km north-west of Newman. Hope Downs 4 is a joint venture between Rio Tinto and Hancock Prospecting, 100% operated by Rio Tinto, producing 15Mtpa Saleable Ore Product with a life span of 14 years.
With initial operational pre-strip works planned to commence during July 2012, Hope Downs 4 is now recruiting for qualified and experienced Operations Planning personnel to join their expanding team. Hope Downs 4 will offer employees an attractive 8 days on / 6 days off lifestyle roster fly in fly out from Perth. We will also fly eligible employees to Perth from within Australia to meet the commute flight to site, in accordance with Rio Tinto Iron Ore's National Fly In Fly Out Scheme.
The Operations Planning team is seeking to appoint a safety focused experienced person to join the team in the role of Grade Controller. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure 24hr mining & quality targets are met to enable adherence to the two week mining plan. This will be achieved through the coordination, prioritization and implementation of mining and rail schedules that will enable the site to achieve monthly production and quality targets.
Key accountabilities will include;
  • Prepare and implement mining and rail schedules
  • Daily monitoring and reporting on quality and quantity of ore and waste mined
  • Contribute to and participate in the HSEQ management plan for the Operations Planning team in order to achieve an increased level of health, safety and environmental awareness
  • Achieving quality requirements (tonnage and grade - physical and chemical)
  • Assist to create a culture of team work between all work groups and departments
  • Analyse and research solutions to problems as they are recognised
To be successful in this role you will have experience working in a mining environment with a good understanding of mine development and production activities. You must hold safety as a core value and have a significant level of knowledge of mining sequence, blending requirements and scheduling of equipment.
