Internship in the Global Outreach and Campaigns Department

The Transparency International Secretariat (TI-S) is seeking a highly motivated intern for its Global Outreach and Campaigns Department.

Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Through more than 90 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.

Main function: Assist the work of the Global Outreach and Campaigns Department

Starting date: May 2012

Duration: Six months

Department: Global Outreach and Campaigns

Remuneration: EUR 400 (according to the German labour and social security law)

Location: Berlin, Germany

Key tasks:

  • Assist with training on specific advocacy skill building projects, including with regional programmes or specific international projects
  • Support cooperation with National Chapter networks on various issues, including internal and external communication, e.g. maintenance of departments’ site on internal website, drafting and editing of texts and assistance with multimedia as well as research on related issues
  • Assist the global institutions advocacy work conducting outreach and advocacy to international institutions such as the G20 with a focus on financial integrity issues
  • Assist in outreach to mass membership organisations with the aim to reach new audiences with our global advocacy work
  • Assist the SAFE (Safeguarding Anti-Corruption Fighters Efforts) work, which advocates for the protection of anti-corruption advocates worldwide
  • Overall support to the department, including various administrative and budget management tasks

Knowledge, experience, interests and skills:

  • Communications, journalism or social science related degree
  • Excellent knowledge of English (written and spoken) is a requirement; a working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is a strong asset
  • Experience in campaigning, activism and/or journalism
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint.
  • Considerable interest in the work of TI and the field of anti-corruption (required)
  • Knowledge of key stakeholders in the fight against corruption at international level would be an advantage (e.g. international institutions and networks, civil society organisations)
