Maintenance Projects Coordinator

AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) is the world's third largest gold producer with 20 operations in 10 countries on four continents. AGA employs over 62,000 people globally. In Australia, AGA operates the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine and is developing the Tropicana Gold Mine in which it has a 70% interest and is manager. Independence Group NL holds the remaining 30%. The Sunrise Dam and Tropicana operations are both situated in WA.

Tropicana represents the most significant Australian gold discovery of the last decade. The new, large scale open pit gold mining operation will produce 3.45 million ounces over a 10 year mine life (approved project). Construction began in 2011 and first gold is anticipated in the December quarter of 2013.

We are now seeking an experienced Maintenance Projects Coordinator to join our Processing team at the Tropicana Gold Mine.

Accountable to the Processing Manager, this role is responsible for coordinating project improvement work and identifying opportunities to maximise cost effectiveness within the Maintenance work group. This role is based on an 8/6 FIFO roster.

The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Provide a maintenance service for designated fixed plant infrastructure across the mine site. This is required during the construction phase and before mobilisation of the Maintenance work group
  • Monitor asset integrity of fixed plant infrastructure so that it is available to use over an extended period to reduce and mitigate risks
  • Coordinate the control of drawings and manuals for fixed plant infrastructure.
  • Participate in Business Planning brainstorming workshops for medium to long term planning and annual budget planning cycles to suggest areas for improvements in output and cost relating to significant changes to process, equipment, resources, creating new roles or additional work
  • Coordinate the execution of Maintenance improvement project work to improve cost effectiveness and sustainability
  • Prepare the Technical Scope of Works so that the appropriate commercial contract allowing for risk mitigation can be executed
  • All contractors and consultants must be monitored to verify that performance is within the contractual terms and conditions and the technical scope of work is delivered to the appropriate standard as described in the contract
  • Utilising SAP, contribute to the development of work packages for Maintenance projects ahead of the business planning process
  • Provide status on project work and include in the draft monthly reports including discussion of control charts (where appropriate), variances and performance (including production and HSEC&C) for each project.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Certificate IV in Engineering plus two years experience or a trade qualification with at least 5 years experience
  • Extensive in mine site fixed plant infrastructure maintenance and planning and scheduling preferably in a gold mining operation
  • Experience in mine site maintenance
  • Sufficient knowledge of the WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act to supervise maintenance activities
  • Proficient in process control and SCADA systems
  • Knowledge of Classified Plant regulations
  • Familiar with crushing and milling processes and equipment
  • Experience in using a computer based ERP system, preferably SAP and intermediate skills in MS Office
  • Experience in project management specifically planning and scheduling maintenance work
  • WA C Class Driver's license
