CEDEC, the European association of local and regional energy companies, has its seat in the center of Brussels and is since 20 years active on the Brussels energy scene.

CEDEC brings together about 2000 local and regional energy companies in the European Union, active in every part of the value chain: local generation, distribution grids, metering, supply of energy & of energy services. They supply and connect 75 million electricity and natural gas customers.

Through the consistency and coherence of its argumentation and its actions CEDEC has steadily built up sound credibility and a solid reputation of quality in its interventions and position papers. This makes CEDEC one of the more influential energy industry associations in Brussels.

On the vacancy for a “Policy Officer”

We are currently looking for a Policy Officer to reinforce our team, offering information and lobbying services to our European member assocations and member companies.

The policy officer will contribute to develop and strengthen an extensive network across the EU institutions, in view of conveying the messages of member companies and their shareholders to all actors involved in the policy making processes on EU level (Commission, EP, Council).

He/she will also be involved in the relations with European regulatory organisations (ACER and CEER), the associations of TSOs (Entso-e and Entso-g) and other relevant organizations.

He/she will do this – in support of the Secretary General - by:

  • following up the latest developments and analyzing policy proposals;
  • preparing policy position papers, reports and presentations;
  • collecting and coordinating member’s positions on very diverse topics (technical, legal, financial);
  • following-up on internal meetings;
  • representing the association in external expert groups.

On the required key qualifications

  • Master degree, preferably in European politics or European law, or in energy/environment related domains;
  • 3-5 years relevant experience in (lobbying with) European institutions, preferably in energy, having sound knowledge of the EU regulatory processes;
  • Fluent written and oral English is mandatory;
  • Mastering of other EU languages is an outspoken asset in relations with EU contacts and with member companies and associations;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with sense of diplomacy, enabling him/her to manage in a respectful way the relationships between persons and associations in a European environment;
  • Open minded & balanced personality, ready to contribute in a flexible way to a small but dynamic team;
  • Supporter of public sector involvement in the energy sector and companies with local roots, and sensitive to political argumentation.
