VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: PROCUREMENT EXPERT
1. Post:
Job Title: Procurement Expert
Grade: P3
Supervisor: Head of Procurement and Travel Division
Directorate: Administration and Human Resource Development
Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
2. JOB PURPOSE:
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Procurement and Travel Division, the incumbent shall plan, organize and direct the procurement of materials and services related to construction and maintenance works in the African Union Commission.
3. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
a. Implementation of the proceedings of the Tender Board in accordance with the African Union Procurement Guidelines;
b. Making Follow-ups on the Implementation of tasks allocated by the Tender Board to the sub-committees such as the Local Tender Board, Evaluation Committee, Opening Committee and Inspection Committee;
c. Take minutes and keep records of Tender Board meetings
d. Follow up on the implementation of decisions made by the Tender Board;
e. Function as desk officer on all Tender Board issues and develop a system of keeping archives of bid documents and other Tender Board matters;
f. Prepare Tender documents in liaison with the Head of Departments in accordance with
AUC regulations and internationally accepted standards and procedures;
g. Prepare requests for bids for tenders not requiring the usual Tendering process on the basis;
h. Produce periodic statements on the work of the Tender Board in reference to executed contracts and procurements approved;
i. Make a regular update of Suppliers (Contractors) database;
j. Perform any other relevant duty/ responsibility assigned by the Head of the
Procurement and Travel Division.
4. Qualifications and Experience Required:
A master’s Degree in Procurement, Law, Commerce, and/ or equivalent relevant professional qualification from a recognized institution
Professional experience required:
At least seven (five) years relevant practical experience in the field of Procurement, Legal practice within a major Government, International Organization, Public or Private sector organization.
6. Other Relevant Skills:
o Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
o Excellent Knowledge of the workings of international organizations
o Capacity to work under pressure in a multicultural environment
o Computer literacy
o Good analytical skills
o Excellent drafting and report writing skills
o Good planning and organizational skills
7 . Language Requirement:
Proficiency in one of the African Union working languages. Proficiency of one or several other working language(s) would be an added advantage.
8. Age Requirement:
Candidates must preferably be between 30 and 45 years old.
9. Tenure of Appointment:
The appointment shall be for an initial period of One (1) years, the first three (3) months of which shall be on probation. It shall be renewable subject to performance and availability of funds.

11. Remuneration: The salary attached to the position is an annual lump-sum of US$74,538.17 inclusive of all allowances for internationally recruited staff, and
