About the Organization:
The Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU) Foundation provides financial and technical assistance to credit union and savings cooperative movements in six countries: Albania, Ethiopia, the Gambia, Ghana, Russia and Sierra Leone. Under this upcoming West Africa focused program (starting in July), ILCUF will expand support to include Liberia. The range of support the Foundation provides typically includes long-term partnerships, small projects, internships and a coaching program. ILCUF works closely with select number of partners bringing them to a point of attaining national level outreach, financial sustainability and soundness. ILCUF receives funding and support from Irish credit unions members as well as from Irish Aid.
About the Job:
The Irish League of Credit Unions Foundation is seeking a Development Advisor to provide support in a multi-country program (Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia and the Gambia) with the aim of cultivating a pro-poor approach amongst credit unions in the region (such as through 'graduation', value chain development, the use of poverty indices, social performance management, etc.).
Tasks and Responsibilities:
•Provide expert input to key junctures of this multi-country program (such as through value chain development, the use of poverty indices, social performance management etc.);
•Provide support in establishment of a training and technical support hub in Ghana which will provide services to CU movements in the region to help them with the development of CUs and their apex organizations, as well as with their poverty alleviation focus.
Qualifications:
•At least 7 or more years of relevant experience in the field of microfinance/savings and credit;
•Masters level qualification in a related subject;
•Experience of carrying out similar type of support and research.
