Job Description

CEEMET is the European Employers Organisation for the Metal, Engineering and Technology-based Industries. CEEMET represents national employer organisations from these industries in 23 countries, covering some 200,000 companies which employ about 13 million workers.
CEEMET’s main objectives are to represent and promote its members’ interests in social and employment affairs at the European level and to provide a regular exchange of information between members on major national developments in the field of industrial relations, labour law, education and training and social protection in the countries affiliated to and co-operating with CEEMET.
CEEMET is looking to recruit a junior EU Social Affairs Advisor (m/f) to replace a colleague on educational leave from September until December 2012. Following this, a continuation of the employment contract on a permanent basis is possible.
Main responsibilities:
  • Monitor EU initiatives in the area of employment and social policy
  • Legal analysis and evaluation of relevant EU documents
  • Support Director General and Senior Communications officer in developing and implementing proactive lobbying strategies
  • Liaise with the national members of CEEMET
  • Maintain and develop regular contacts with the EU Institutions and key stakeholders
Your profile:
  • University degree in law
  • 2-3 years of relevant professional experience
  • Proven experience in working together with the European institutions
  • Company and or EU-institution background with sound knowledge of social and employment related issues
  • Fluent in English and French - native speaker or equivalent; other languages would be a plus
  • Good team spirit combined with a high degree of self-sufficiency
Candidates must have an understanding of and affinity with the interests of manufacturing industry. A good understanding of political processes, demonstrated experience in working in a multicultural team is required.
