Technology moves quickly, so it's important that we work closely with politicians, regulators, academics and third parties to help them understand the issues that affect the Internet and our users. Google and the web touch a lot of public policy debates, so we're looking for quick-witted, entrepreneurial and intellectually curious people to join our team. The role: Policy Analyst - Brussels
A great opportunity exists for a bright, well organized and energetic individual to work with a stellar team on cutting edge technology issues. Google is looking for a Public Policy and Government Relations Analyst, based in Brussels, to help develop campaigns to advance our public policy positions. You will need first-rate analytical and organizational skills, the ability to communicate effectively in person and writing, an aptitude for learning and the discipline to manage different projects to tight deadlines simultaneously. No two days at Google are the same, so flexibility and a willingness to try new things are essential. The ideal candidate will have worked with or in government, politics, a think tank, advocacy group or trade association and preferably be familiar with Internet technologies and the policy environments that surround them.
Responsibilities:
  • Helping to research and develop public policy positions and campaigns as part of a broad cross functional team.
  • Working with policy makers, industry bodies and third parties to advance Google’s policy agenda.
  • Organising events and initiatives.
Minimum qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree. In lieu of degree, relevant skills or equivalent experience.
  • First-rate personal, political, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with Internet technologies and the policy environments that surround them, or an ability to quickly get up to speed on complex technical and regulatory issues.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Enthusiastic team player with energy, drive and determination, as well as a genuine interest in the Internet.
  • Great communicator--in person and in writing.
  • Self starter with a sense of humor and the ability to thrive in a fast moving and sometimes stressful environment.
