ActionAid Head of Human Resources
SALARY: £50,557- 60,000 p.a. + attractive benefits
LOCATION: London, EC1R 0BJ
CLOSING DATE: 19th July 2012
As part of the global ActionAid family, we are helping to build a fair and just world where everyone can claim their rights. To achieve this we work with local people in more than 45 countries to fight hunger and disease, seek justice and education for women, hold companies and governments to account and help communities cope with emergencies.
ActionAid UK has undergone, and continues to undergo a period of considerable change, implementing new business models and working with greater flexibility in order to deliver our organisational priorities. As an organisation funded by institutional donors (including the Government) and public donation, the wider picture for public and personal finances significantly impacts upon us and the need for greater internal efficiency is a priority.
These challenges will require new organisational models and ways of working. As Head of HR you will set the strategic direction of the Human Resources function in the UK and ensure that all elements contribute directly to the achievement of UK organisational goals. You will build and provide leadership to a professional HR team and ensure that the UK HR function is a centre of excellence and ActionAid UK an employer of choice in the sector.
You must be educated to degree level, preferably a Fellow of the CIPD and demonstrate substantial experience at senior management level as well as experience of advising established senior management teams and managing change in a unionised environment.
Resilience to overcome institutional obstacles and introduce effective management practices which enhance the work of the organisation is essential.
You will have strong employment law knowledge to provide authoritative advice and will have a proven track record of successful project management and implementing strategic initiatives with long term organisational impact.
