For the legal support of our Corporate Representation Office in Brussels we are looking for a

Legal Counsel (m/f) - European Law

Responsibilities

• Legal advice on all EU law issues, in particular European directives, legislation as well as trade matters and state aid procedures.
• Advise board members, management teams, Evonik legal team and otherbusiness colleagues on legal matters.
• Respond quickly and consistently to internal and external requests for advice, especially on what concerns EU regulations and European law developments.
• Support to the local and central management in civil law matters in relation to our Belgium locations.
• Managing and supervising external law firms.

Requirements

• A Law degree from a European University.
• At least 5 years of professional experience either as lawyer in a reputable law firm, or as in-house lawyer within an industrial company, European or national institution.
• A proven background in European law.
• A good understanding of all EU institutions and legislative procedures.
• Excellent written and oral command of English, Dutch and French (fluency in an additional language like German is a plus).
• Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to tasks.
• Motivated and a demonstrated desire to achieve.
• A dependable person that is able to work across functions and cultural boundaries.
• The ability to think quickly and outside the box.

This position will be part of Evonik’s global legal department and its holder will directly report to the Head of Legal Services Europe. You will support the group in the discussions with representatives of the European institutions in Brussels and give, where necessary, general support to our lobbying activities.
