Biostatistician II in Research Triangle Park, NC

Position Description:

Serve as lead biostatistician for multiple projects requiring standard statistical methods and/or assist senior statistical staff on projects of a more complex nature. Provide statistical consultation to FHI 360 researchers.

  • Serves as lead statistician for research studies. As such, determines statistical support requirements, negotiates timetables and coordinates work of statistical team supporting research projects.
  • Prepares Statistical Analysis Plans, analysis specifications, and statistical reports; conducts statistical programming; oversees verification process.
  • Prepares (or oversees junior staff who prepare) data edit checks and table shells. Reviews study reports and manuscripts for accuracy and appropriate interpretation of results.
  • Serves as primary liaison between Biostatistics and the research team.
  • Provides statistical input on study protocols (study design, sample size calculations, analysis plans, etc.)
  • Works together with senior statistical staff to carry out lead-statistician functions on projects of a more complex nature.
  • May contribute to the development or improvement of systems that assure the timely provision of high quality statistical services.
  • Investigates statistical literature for appropriate methodologies. Investigates solutions to practical problems.
  • Serves as statistical resource (consultant) for FHI 360 research staff.
  • Promotes good statistical practice for the support of scientific judgments and product claims.

Minimum Requirements:

With minimal supervision, manages high volume work flow. Knowledge of intermediate biostatistical methods for observational and randomized studies. Experience performing analyses of clinical trials, health research studies, or other statistically based research. Strong intermediate knowledge of statistical software packages, primarily SAS. Strong quantitative, verbal, writing, and organizational skills. Resourceful through technology, research skills, and relationship building among several organization teams and units and professional organizations to resolve problems and initiate enhancements. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and international standards governing statistical aspects of research.

BS/BA in biostatistics or statistics and 7-9 years relevant work experience, or MS/MA/MPH in biostatistics or statistics and 5-7 years relevant work experience
