HelpAge International Head of Policy and Learning

HelpAge International (HelpAge) helps older people claim their rights, challenge discrimination and overcome poverty, so that they can lead dignified, secure, active and healthy lives. Our work in over 75 countries is strengthened through our global network of like-minded organisations - the only one of its kind in the world.

The Head of Policy and Learning will provide strategic leadership to HelpAge’s policy, influencing and learning work. You will drive and shape the policy agenda of HelpAge in 3 thematic areas:

  • Social protection and incomes/food security
  • Health care and HIV
  • Rights

And work with a global network and partners and with donors and research institutions. The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated skills of influencing the agendas of international bodies at senior level
  • Proven ability to lead, inspire and manage a multi-sector team
  • Technical knowledge of at least one key policy areas of social protection, health, rights and livelihoods in the international development context
  • Experience of high level representation and influencing with a range of actors including donors, government and the private sector
  • Excellent financial management skills and a good track record of funding proposals and project development and management
  • Experience of strategic planning, preparing annual plans and excellent report writing skills
  • Proven track record to participative learning and working styles
  • Ability to undertake extensive overseas travel
