HelpAge International Humanitarian Policy Manager

HelpAge International helps older people claim their rights, challenge discrimination and overcome poverty, so that they can lead dignified, secure, active and healthy lives. Our work in over 75 countries is strengthened through our global network of like-minded organisations - the only one of its kind in the world.

The Humanitarian Policy Manager will help ensure equitable and inclusive humanitarian assistance and protection for older people by managing our humanitarian policy work within our Emergencies Team. You will lead and coordinate the design and delivery of HelpAge’s humanitarian policy influencing and learning strategy, support HelpAge programmes around the world and play a leading role in the international humanitarian system to promote the integration of ageing issues in policy and practice.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of humanitarian policy, debates and processes as well as practical experience of humanitarian action gained through international programmes. A genuine interest in ageing issues in the developing world is essential, together with demonstrated skills for supporting organizational learning, managing desk and field research, and influencing the agendas of international agencies. You must be able and willing to undertake international travel for up to 12 weeks a year.
