Information Management Specialist, P-4, Copenhagen

Purpose

Under the supervision and guidance of Manager, Innovative Finance, with matrix reporting lines to Deputy Director / Programmes in Supply Division, the incumbent will have the following responsibilities:

1. Compose information reports for internal and external use summarizing recent UNICEF Supply Division (SD) activity in strategic product areas. Reporting will include key UNICEF Supply Division positioning, summary of recent developments, and reportable data (including those supporting and mandated by partner relations). Priority areas would include vaccines and other health products. Information will typically be derived from interaction with technical specialists and product focal points in addition to other UNICEF resources.

2. Support SD product centres’ development of new / improved reporting formats, data analysis and report writing to the GAVI Alliance and UNITAID.

3. Coordinate internal and external work on routine meeting reporting to the Director’s Office, Programme Division and to external partners including countries and suppliers with the objective of improving information availability, timeliness and responsiveness.

4. In cooperation with product centres, generate briefs and presentations which document commercial and market analysis for key product areas.

5. Draw on information on market dynamics issues from high-level meetings with suppliers and partners, in particular, focusing on pre-meeting position coordination communication and post-meeting reporting, both internally and externally, as appropriate.

6. Anticipated engagement with the following UNICEF partners: Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, GAVI, GFATM, UNITAID, MSF, the World Bank and others.

Qualifications and Competencies

• Master’s degree, preferably in Public Health, Business / Marketing, Finance, Communication, or Journalism. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a graduate degree if candidate can demonstrate high level of experience working in the public health, development and a strong history of engagement with stakeholders.

• Experience in engaging with the UN system or global development partners on health issues, especially vaccines and immunization is desirable.

• Minimum of 8 years’ professional work experience, preferably in the following areas in the private or public sectors: Public Health, Development, Market Analysis, Procurement, Reporting.

• Familiarity with market analysis, pricing and/or commercial issues relating to health products in the developing world is advantageous.

• Strong analytical and communication skills.

• Strong report writing skills with ability to synthesize complex topics especially under tight deadlines.

• Strong technical knowledge of global markets of UNICEF strategic essential commodities, particularly vaccines.

• Good judgment and tact.

• Good interpersonal skills.
