or
1 full-time Postdoctoral bResearch Assistant in Law (wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in),
TV-L Salary Group E-13
and
1 part-time Postgraduate Research Assistant in Law (wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in),
TV-L Salary Group E-9 – E-13 with 50% of regular working hours
The positions are available for a fixed term of two years (or less) preferably from the 1st October 2012.
Job Description:
The positions are part of an international team which supports the Research Network on EU Administrative Law working group on information management (www.ReNEUAL.eu). ReNEUAL addresses the potential and the substantial need for simplification of EU administrative law, as the body of rules and principles governing the implementation of EU policies by EU institutions and Member States. Members of ReNEUAL contribute to establishing a series of draft "statements and restatements" which shall serve as best-practice guidelines of a general European administrative procedure law. The ReNEUAL working group on information management will concentrate on issues such as the use and effect of public information infrastructures to gather, assess and share information for decision-making in EU procedures for administrative rulemaking, single-case decision making and negotiating contracts. Also, it will look at common rules and principles for the quality of information necessary for decision- making as well as at data protection rules.
The positions will be funded by the German Science Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG), Germany's largest and most prestigious research funding organization (for details seehttp://www.dfg.de/en/dfg_profile/mission/index.html). They will be established in the public law department of the Institute of Media and Information Law directed by Prof. Jens-Peter Schneider (www.jura.uni-freiburg.de/institute/imi2/de). Freiburg is one of the top law faculties in Germany. In addition to the supportive tasks for ReNEUAL the position offers room for one´s own scholarly development for instance by preparing own publications in the field of European or comparative information law or by drafting a doctoral thesis – either for your home university or in order to receive a doctoral degree from Freiburg. In the latter case it is possible to write the doctoral thesis either in German or English. You may also note that Freiburg offers an international master´s program on German law.
Requirements:
As ReNEUAL´s working language is English all candidates are required to have a proved excellent command of legal English. One of the positions shall support especially the drafting of the ReNEUAL statements and restatements and other ReNEUAL publications in English. For this position we are looking for an English native speaker or for a person with a proved outstanding command of legal English. Candidates with at least a basic knowledge of German will find themselves at a significant advantage in a German environment.
Academic requirements are an outstanding first degree in Law or equivalent qualification in any EU jurisdiction; candidates with a master´s degree or a doctorate in law will be preferred and will receive a relatively higher salary in the spectrum specified below; special knowledge of European administrative
law; special interest in information law.

The expected salary (pre-tax) depends on several factors like especially the academic degree´s or work experience of an candidate. Therefore the following information provide only
very rough indications assuming a lower level of work experience: full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Law (wissenschaftliche/ r Mitarbeiter/in), TV-L Salary Group E-13: approx. 40.000 – 45.000 € p. a. part-time Postgraduate Research Assistant in Law (wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in) with a master´s degree or equivalent TV-L Salary Group E-13 with 75% of regular working hours approx. 30.000 € p. a. part-time Postgraduate Research Assistant in Law (wissenschaftliche/ r Mitarbeiter/in) with a bachelor´s degree or equivalent depending on the length of the bachelor program: TV-L Salary Group E-9 – E-13 with 75% of regular working hours approx. 22.500 - 30.000 € p. a.
