Are you an undergraduate, graduate or recent grad with the desire to work within the international non-profit sector, obtain professional skills, gain a broadened perspective, and experience working in a corporate environment?

World Vision International (WVI) is a global network of people committed to enhance the well-being of children everywhere by empowering families and communities to overcome the challenges of poverty and injustice. Working alongside staff who are experts in their field, you’ll grow in your skills and in your knowledge of how your field fits into important humanitarian work.

The WVI Fall Internship Programme provides a stipend learning and development short-term work experience for undergraduate, graduate or recently graduated individuals. You will be among interns who desire to work within the international non-profit sector, while obtaining professional skills, a broadened perspective, and an experience in a corporate environment.

You will strengthen your relational skills and develop professional experience through interactive teamwork and department orientations. Working on structured assignments, you will work in your respective departments on these special tasks and projects. These projects will assist in the WV ministry and will furthermore provide an up-close view of the various functions and inner workings of World Vision.

This programme is designed to give you working experience within an international organisation that is Christian in its mission. In the same manner, WVI staff will have the opportunity to work alongside you in the role of both supervisor and mentor; fostering personal and professional growth. You will experience and be exposed to the complexities of working in an international organisation, as well as to a number of current domestic and international issues.

Start Date: Sept. 10 or 17

Stipend: $750/month

Peacebuilding Internship
Project(s) Description

    • Prepare conflict research briefings and writing up conflict analysis workshop summary reports for facilitators of WV’s “Making Sense of Turbulent Contexts” workshops
    • Updating and maintaining quantitative and qualitative conflict data in World Vision’s Fragility Index
    • Attending external peacebuilding-related meetings (think-tanks, international organisations, NGO networks) and writing up notes

Learning & Development
    • Meaningful and substantive research tasks
    • Participation in weekly team meetings as a regular team member
    • Real-life work experience assisting peacebuilding field programming

Preferred Qualifications
    • 36-40 hrs per week
    • Experience working/volunteering at least 8 weeks in a developing country
    • Master’s degree in politics, international relations, development studies, conflict studies, peace studies or related field
    • Excellent writing ability (submit writing sample of 1000 words from a term paper on a related topic to peacebuilding)
    • Self-starter, proven dedication and commitment to pursuing complex tasks, cross-cultural sensitivity
