WWF Greater-Mekong (WWF-GM) is seeking to recruit a well-qualified and experienced candidate to fill the position of

Technical Advisor, Protected Areas Management, Carbi Project.


The CarBi project has the following key Indicators:
• Emissions of 1.8 million tons of CO2 deriving from deforestation and forest degradation will be avoided.
• Populations of mammals, especially ungulates,will be protected and their numbers increase in the Protected Areas.
• Trans-border illegal timber trade from Laos to Vietnam is reduced by 40% in the project region.
• At least 400 households will have benefitted from the sustainable use of natural forest as well as from compensation mechanisms for use restrictions and effective forest protection.

This position will act as Technical Advisor, Protected Area Management for the Protected Area component of the project, covering the Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue Saola Nature Reserves as well as the Bach Ma National Park extension in Vietnam, and the Xe Sap National Park in Laos. This position involves the development and implementation of best practice management systems for the Protected Areas. The Technical Advisor will be responsible for the coordination of the project activities and budget across the PA landscape, ensuring synergy, continuity and quality assurance. The position has a strong focus on capacity building and mentoring of WWF, government and partner staff. Monitoring and evaluation of outputs against actual outcomes also forms a key component of this position.

Salary range:
From US$ 36,960 to US$ 55,464 per year (gross)
