Assistant Research Scientist NIAB TAG

NIAB is a plant bioscience research and knowledge transfer organisation, with an emphasis on innovative applications mainly in the agricultural and horticultural sectors. Silsoe Spray Applications Unit is a small research team based in Bedfordshire, specialising in pesticide application and spray technology. The Unit has world-class facilities, including a wind tunnel and laser instrumentation for spray characterisation and an international reputation for R & D. We wish to appoint an Assistant Research Scientist to support the work programme at the Silsoe Unit. You will work as part of a team, undertaking a wide range of experimental work, in the laboratory and in the field, relating to the physical interactions between spray droplets and biological targets, and to the performance of agricultural spraying equipment, assisting both with practical work and data analysis.

You will need to be well organised and able to manage high workload peaks. You should hold a first degree in a scientific subject with a significant component in a physical or chemical science or engineering. Some experience in a research environment would be an advantage and an interest in a career related to agriculture is essential. The rural location of this job means that a full driving licence or access to independent means of transport is advisable.
